1017 featuring Solomon Witherspoon
1017 featuring Solomon Witherspoon
At the tender age of nine (9) years old, Solomon was destined for performance and musical success. He began singing in his father, Rev. Sylvester Witherspoon's church with his family, the Witherspoon choir. Growing up in a huge family of five boys and five girls, life has always been fast paced.

After the death of Solomon's brother Sam, his sister Liz and his Father Rev Witherspoon, Solomon vowed to live by the words of his Father, "ONCE A TASK HAS ONCE BEGUN, NEVER LEAVE IT UNTIL IT'S DONE. BE IT LABOR, GREAT OR SMALL, DO IT WELL OR NOT AT ALL".

As a rising star Solomon began singing background vocals for Kip Blackshire, and has had the privilege of sharing the stage with two musical icons Prince and Larry Graham. In the past year, Solomon and his band have performed with Bret Michaels, Eric Roberson, Doom Tree, former Prince and Nick Jonas musicians, Tommy Barbarella and Sonny Thompson, Grammy Award Winners, Three-6 Mafia, and 2012 Grammy nominated artists Mint Condition. Additionally, Solomon has recently been in production with former Prince drummer, Michael Bland and Jonas Brother's member, Ryan Liestman. Solomon's music is inspired by Marvin Sapp, Kirk Franklin, Luther Vandross, Usher, and Jamie Foxx.

Solomon's vision will never change ... Aim for the stars and Shoot for the moon! Don't die trying ... live trying. Once you have the chance to hear AND see Solomon and Ten17 perform, you will be captivated by their amazing sound and electric energy. Currently, Solomon is close to releasing his first EP album, and has his sights set on NO LIMITS in 2012!
Kevin Bowe & The Okemah Prophets
Kevin Bowe & The Okemah Prophets
The Okemah Prophets (Oh-kee-mah) are a band out of Minneapolis, led by singer/songwriter Kevin Bowe. Bowe has a long history as a guitarist/writer/producer, landing 3 platinums and songs on 2 Grammy winning albums working with Jonny Lang, Etta James and others. The group came together for a showcase of Kevin’s songs at a SXSW a few years back and worked so well they started doing live shows (including bookings with BR549, Jonny Lang, Peter Case, Pete Seeger & Arlo Guthrie, Semisonic, Jayhawks, Los Lobos and Bob Mould), and released a CD, RESTORATION which sold over 5000 copies. Their second release Love Songs & Murder Ballads joined "Restoration" on Miles Of Music’s bestseller list. The band signed a European recording contract with Corazong Records which released the compilation "Angels On The Freeway".

But the big story is the new CD “Natchez Trace”; after a long break spent touring/recording with other artists the band has released an album that is getting raves from Rolling Stone to No Depression. Featuring contributions from Westerberg, Nels Cline (Wilco), Chuck Prophet, Freedy Johnston, Scarlet Rivera (Dylan), Tim O’Reagan (Jayhawks) and Meat Puppets, these songs transcend Americana, singer-songwriter, or any other label and take classic Minneapolis garage rock to a whole new level. Live shows behind this record are proving that the Prophets time has come, beyond being a “wrecking crew” for great artists this band has a thing of their own. Peter Anderson on drums (Polara, Honeydogs) and Steve Price (Rex Daisy) on bass round out the trio. Both the St. Cloud and Duluth papers have already called it the best CD of the year.

A SXSW show and East Coast tour are planned for spring ’13, and Europe awaits after that. Kevin and Peter just played on the Replacements session (with Westerberg and Tommy Stinson) to benefit the Mats ailing guitarist Slim Dunlap, the band also backs up Freedy Johnston and Alison Scott.

“A sturdy cross between Tom Petty and Band Of Horses, these songs sound like they’ve been circling around in the ethos indefinitely, Bowe and co. lasso them down to earth. In a word…. outstanding” (No Depression)
LADYBOI
LADYBOI
Ladyboi (aka Tony Yalda) was born in Beirut, Lebanon to Assyrian parents, William and Janit Yalda. He spent the first four years of his life in Athens, Greece before his family moved to the United States, where he was raised in Chicago. Ladyboi started singing at the age of two, taking current songs and changing the lyrics as he saw fit. He spent his grammar and high school years in choirs and drama classes. His love for entertainment grew, and he went on to attend DePaul University’s Theatre School to study theatre management for two years before transferring to Roosevelt University’s Theatre Conservatory. He completed another two years there before dropping out to head west to Los Angeles to pursue acting in July of 2004. After months of struggling, Ladyboi landed his first role in Lisa Kudrow’s HBO series, “The Comeback.” A month later, he booked his first feature film, “American Dreamz,” starring alongside Hugh Grant and Mandy Moore.
Ladyboi continued to star in films and television shows including “Meet the Spartans,” “Taqwacores,” and “Cyrus: Mind of a Serial Killer.” Despite this impressive success as an actor, it wasn’t long after before he gave in to his first and greatest passion: music. His teen years had been spent obsessing over the music of Billie Holiday and Janis Joplin. Then on one fateful day in April of 2007 after hearing the vocals of Amy Winehouse for the first time, he realized that he could no longer deny this calling.
Ladyboi started an acoustic band called The Seekers and a rock band called The Coasts, but both projects petered out within a couple of months. In late 2009, he started a band called The Hollabacks, which gained national recognition and success. The band won the 2010 Slurpee Battle of the Bands competition; opened for N*E*R*D at the Fillmore East; was invited for a live session at Wolfgang’s Vault; had two songs featured in the thriller “Cyrus” (starring Lance Henriksen); and were the face of Slurpee for six months. The Hollabacks unfortunately split up after ten months due to conflicting creative directions.
Ladyboi decided to continue writing and recording as a solo artist. He began collaborating with previous Hollabacks bassist and Minneapolis native, Jeff Bernett. Bernett introduced Ladyboi to Ryan Liestman (keyboardist for The Jonas Brothers) and Michael Bland (drummer for Prince and The New Power Generation and Soul Asylum), and they quickly joined the project as songwriters and producers . Ladyboi left the land of Hollywood and moved to Minneapolis in October of 2011 to complete his debut album. Working tirelessly, the solo project is currently set to debut Spring 2012. He is the self-proclaimed “crazy soulful Arab punk who’s taking over the world.” And he means it.
