Having a name with such a strong meaning, it is evident that the Jamaican based dub/reggae band, Dubtonic Kru, is poised to create waves in the music industry.
Their music is a rare and eclectic mix of roots reggae and explosive dub instrumentals with influences from many different genres of music that appeals to a wide range of audiences across the globe. The founding members of the five member group are Deleon "Jubba" White and Strickland "Stone" Stone, a dynamic Drum & Bass duo who, over the years have contributed to the development of modern Roots Reggae, with their unique sound and approach that intertwines Jubba's mesmerizing Reggae/Jazz Fusion drumming with Stone's groovy, yet pulsating bass lines.
This duo has gained about a decade and a half of experience from touring and or recording with the legendary likes of Max Romeo, U-Roy, Burning Spear, The Mighty Diamonds as well as modern day artistes such as Bushman, Junior Kelly, Richie Spice, Lutan Fyah and Voicemail to name a few.
This unique aggregation "Dubtonic kru", in addition to it's strong dub section, boast two up front rounded singers, Kamau, "the quiet warrior" adds a powerful and revolutionary voice, along with his energetic role on percussions and Jallanzo's equally unique and versatile voice, not to mention his hypnotizing guitar riffs, twirling around young and talented luke Dixon's magical hands on the workstations (keyboards).
The group further exhibits their diversed vocal ability with Jubba's sometimes spoken words, further stretching his voice to singing a few songs, in addition to joining Luke on background vocals. The group's first album, "Jungle Fever" debuted the awakening of a new breed of musicians taking traditional Roots Reggae music to a whole new level.
The first single off the album, "Hold on Still" enjoyed the #1 position for over 10 weeks on a prominent UK radio chart as well as significant rotation on a slew of radio stations and sound systems across Europe. In the summer of 2009, after a well heated European tour, Dubtonic Kru took the stage at the prestigious "Reggae Sumfest" festival in Jamaica. They performed on "International Night One" to rave reviews and shared the stage with renowned pop artists such as Neyo, Toni Braxton, Keri Hilson, Jazmine Sullivan and reggae stalwarts such as Coco Tea, Jah Cure, Morgan's Heritage among others.
The Kru's second album, "DUB TONIC" was released in November 2009 and was once again met with overwhelming response. In Spring 2010 the band and their new album were warmly embraced by US audiences that rocked and grooved to their sound on their first U.S.A based tour alongside Grammy award winning Mykal Rose (former member of Black Uhuru). It was this response that summoned the Kru back to the States in the summer to perform at a number of venues across the Mid West and West Coast including the acclaimed Sierra Nevada World Music Festival.
Dubtonic Kru has put on many outstanding performances in many countries...among the most notable are Ostroda Reggae festival (Poland), Uppsala Reggae Festival (Sweden), Rototom Sunsplash (Italy), NOWA Reggae Festival (Spain), Reggae Sumfest (Jamaica), Reggae on the Mountain (Utah), Sierra Nevada World Music Festival (California), and Bay Front Reggae Festival (Minnesota). Dubtonic Kru will once again be back in the U.S.A for an extended tour this fall.
This is a band you should not miss, their music will keep you grooving long after the band stand is empty.

Tony Brown

I began singing and playing music at a very early age. I was attracted to the affects music had on people. I listened to every style and type of music, even the kind i did sing or play because I knew that even those kinds of music moved people and made them feel good. The music I was most drawn to was, R7B, Soul, Blues, Jazz and Foreign music(which is called World Music and Calypso) And this is the foundation of my original music and songs today.
I create music and lyrics to contribute my own individual view points, inspirations, stories, riddims, vibes and styles to the great sea of creativty considered as music in the world today. I also try to make my performances unique and an individual expression of my originality.
Tony has lived in many places within his life; America, Spain, Holland, England, France, Jamaica, and Belize.
Tony has opened shows and shared the stage with some of “originators” of musical styles such as; Ray Charles, Peter Tosh, Taj Mahal, Richie Havens, The Jackson Five, Steve Goodman, John Prine, Luther Allison, B.B.King, Freddy King, Muddy Waters, Sly & The Family Stone, Sonny Stitt, John Hammond Jr., Canned Heat, The Doors, Bo Diddley, Justin Hinds & The Dominoes, Toots & The Maytals, Jimmy Cliff, Earl Chinna Smith & Soul Syndicate, Ziggy Marley, The Melody Makers, Squeeze, Oregon, Burning Spear, Sonny terry, Bobby McPherson, The Police and many more. Tony Brown is making an effort to present his music, art and creativity to the world. The reason why he wants to do this is because this is his purpose in life. There is no explanation of what this is supposed to accomplish other than it is supposed to be done.
